Brett Macfarlane

While more fashionable people of the time were being born in New York, London and Biarritz Brett Macfarlane joined the world via Vancouver on the West Coast of Canada. Following a stint as an international downhill ski racer he left Canada for America to be educated in the abstract extremes of liberal arts then started his first career as an alpine ski coach. After starting adult life with such a noble profession it all went sideways and he ended up in advertising.

After audaciously starting his own design and PR firm Brett Moved to the agency world first at McCann Erickson then DDB Canada (formerly Palmer Jarvis.) Stubbornly eschewing trends, fads and short term wealth Brett resolutely remained an integrated account person with a strong vein as an account planner. Working on campaigns garnering Lions, Pencils, Clios and more, (including that campaign strikingly similar to the one the folks in Miami/Boulder did for VW, you know with the crashes) and often delivering industry leading same sales results.

To this day his idealism has not subsided and he pursues the great thoughts, thinking and ideas that intertwine the multi-facets of brands to make them more interesting to consumers and profitable for clients. He also likes long runs in the woods... the kinds requiring powder skis or running shoes that is.
