1 in 5 Canadians Still Talk and Text While Driving
Even though texting and talking on your phone while driving is illegal in Canada, and has been proven to be as dangerous as driving while drunk, 18% of Canadians confess to this bad habit—a startlingly high number considering how many more might do it but not admit it.
According to data released by Kanetix, only speeding and eating while driving are more prevelant bad habits for Canadian drivers. The poll, which was conducted by Leger Marketing, revealed that 36% of Canadians speed. Now, imagine the combination of speeding and texting—scary stuff.
16% of Canadians follow the vehicles in front of them too closely, 11% experience road rage, 10% don't signal, and 7% weave in and out of traffic. Again, let's hope none of this is done while texting or talking—although it probably is.
