Facebook loves sharing statistics, especially now that it's public (except for maybe money-related stats). But who wouldn't with a userbase of one-freakin-billion?
Unfortunately, most numberd tend to be either global or US-based. Canadians don't see a lot of exclusive numbers.
This changed when Facebook's Rob D'Onofrio headed to Toronto as park of the social network's first-ever marketing tour. There he unveiled some freshly discovered stats thanks to joint research from comScore.
According to him, four in five internet users in Canada are on Facebook. This is higher than the US, where it's three in four, and much higher than the global average, which is just over half. In fact, this could very possibly be the highest Facebook penetration rate in the world.
Canadians spend an average of eight hours per month on Facebook, up 14% from last year. The global average is 6.5 hours, up 7%.
One third of Canadian Facebookers are over 45, Rob says.
