9flats Acquires Canadian Startup iStopOver to Gain North American Foothold

Berlin-based 9flats has decided to take on rival Airbnb via a North American expansion. First stop: Toronto.

9flats announced this week that it has acquired iStopOver, an online Canadian startup focused on private rentals. The two companies will merge "over the next few weeks" and eventually the two sites will become just one.

Techvibes first covered iStopOver in 2010. Last year, it acquired US competitor Vacapedia.
