Apple today hit a milestone for one of its less-talked-about services, podcasts.

According to Apple, there are now one billion Podcast subscriptions. Those subscriptions are spread across 250,000 different podcasts, which have produced more than eight million episodes combined in over 100 languages.

"From comedy to hard news to sports to innovative educational content and so much more, podcasting has transformed the global media landscape," Apple wrote in a note on iTunes. Some of Apple's more popular podcasts include TEDTalks, This American Life, and 60 Minutes.

Apple first launched podcasts back in 2005.
