Apple Stores Profit 17X More Than Other Top Retailers, Generate 8X More Revenue

Apple's brick-and-mortar stores are—by far—the most profitable of any retailer in the world. New research from RetailSails reveals that Apple is currently raking in an incredible $6,000 annually per square foot of store space.

The average annual revenue per square foot among the top 20 retailers is only $787, just 13% of Apple's. And Apple outshines them even more profoundly in terms of profit: RetailSails found Apple stores to be 17X more profitable than the average retailer.

Luxury fashion retailers dominate the list—Tiffany & Co, Coach, and Polo Ralph Lauren all make the top five—but no one comes even close to Apple's numbers. GameStop and Best Buy are the only other tech-related retailers in the top 20.

Apple launched its first Apple Store in 2001. It now has nearly 400 stores worldwide, including more than 20 in Canada.
