Apple's iPhone Generates 66% of All Smartphone Buzz Online; BlackBerry Just 10%

The iPhone 4S is the mobile device that's getting all the buzz this holiday season.

According to NM Incite, a Nielsen/McKinsey company, the iPhone 4S is the most frequently mentioned smartphone online, from blogs to message boards to social media like Twitter and Facebook, plus news articles. In fact, this one device captured an impressive 40% of all online buzz from July until now—even though the smartphone wasn't launched until October.

It gets crazier.

When you factor in the device's two predecessors, the 4 and 3GS models, Apple's handsets have accounted for a staggering two-thirds of all online buzz over the past half-year, even though the iPhone 4 is over a year old and the 3GS is well over two years old.

Android devices generated roughly one quarter of online buzz in total, while BlackBerry mustered just 10%. However, in a silver lining, the Bold model was the third-most mentioned handset, dominating the BlackBerry category.
