ArtimationThere is a high demand for creative talent in the Vancouver area. Our recent list of Gaming Companies in Vancouver shows a prospering local gaming industry of large and small studios that are constantly in need of skilled people. These are in addition to the various web firms and video studios that also find themselves on the hunt for creative talent. This demand is fed partly by various local post-secondary institutions that offer specialized programs in various media arts.

These opportunities will be on display March 1 as The Artimation Media Arts Festival, put on by the Art Institute of Vancouver, takes over the spacious Rocky Mountaineer Station. This full day event, aimed at young people considering a career in the media arts, will feature sessions on game development, 3D modelling, film production, visual effects, and sound recording. Three competitions will take place for character art, game concepts, and high school films. A gaming tournament, film and visual effects demonstrations, audio critiques, and student film screenings will also take place.
