At long last, Blackberry smartphones get offical podcast support through native app

podcastBlackBerry Podcasts, a native app, grants Blackberries with official podcast support for browsing and downloading podcasts in audio or video, as well as subscribing. The app will work with virtually every new or semi-new Blackberry including the Bold, Curve, Pearl, Storm and Tour. The BlackBerry Torch will have the app come built-in.

RIM, while a leader in some regards such as enterprise security, is one of the last major smartphone makers to readily support podcasts. Apple, who coined the podcasts which originated on iTunes, added support for podcasts at the end of 2008. Android has numerous third-party apps that handle the task.
