Atlantic Canadians heed global warming warnings and turn to green energy

According to a recent report released by the Public Policy Forum, Sustainable Prosperity, and their partners, Canadians are more likely to believe in climate change having a significant effect on the environment than Americans (Report released Feb 23, 2011 - available here).

When asked "From what you’ve read and heard, is there solid evidence that the average temperature on Earth has been getting warmer over the past four decades?", 80% of Canadians state that there is solid evidence of global warming, 14% say there is not solid evidence, and 6% say they are not sure.

An article by CBC News on this same report states that Atlantic Canadians lead the country in those who believe there exists solid evidence in support of global warming.  This belief shows through in the many green energy projects starting up or underway in the Maritime provinces.  With projects such as Nova Scotia Power’s In-Stream Tidal Turbine project (pictured above), the Lower Churchill Hydroelectric Project, and many other wind and solar programs, the Atlantic provinces are leading the country in deploying the very latest in green technologies to combat global warming.
