Backstage Technologies takes BC Export Award

Victoria-based Backstage Technologies distinguished itself recently as the first social gaming studio to win a BC Export Award. The awards, which recognize British Columbia’s top 25 exporters, are co-hosted by the B.C. government and the BC Division of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters.

Backstage has created social gaming experiences such as Pull Tabs, Scratch and Win, Slots, Mind Games and Bingo Explosion, which many social networking aficionados have no doubt clicked away at for many hours. But what’s interesting about this award is that not only a gaming company but one firmly grounded in social networking is being recognized by one of the oldest “brick and mortar” awards in the province. But with the economy increasingly moving from atoms to bits, “virtual” companies like Backstage will continue to garner awards previously reserved for their offline brethren.
