Bad News from GoodNews.com
Ten months ago we covered the launch of GoodNews.com - a Vancouver-based group-buying site that was hot on Groupon heels after their April Vancouver launch.
GoodNews.com was product of Reinvent Technology, a company founded by famous domainer Kevin Ham. At launch many believed that Ham's incredible portfolio of domains names (and their underlying type-in traffic) could give the site enough of a boost to compete with the great Groupon.
Turns out they were wrong and GoodNews.com threw in the towel today. Ham sent an importnat update to GoodNews users today and one of them sent along a portion of it:
Firstly, thank you for all the support that you've given GoodNews.com. With your help, we've raised nearly $50,000 for a variety of amazing non-profits in Canada.
Secondly, due to a change in company direction we have made the hard decision to suspend operations of GoodNews.com in Vancouver until further notice, effective Monday, April 4, 2011.
So, who's next to fall in the crowded group-buying space locally?
