Bad turns ugly: Following poor Q2 results, RIM suffers global email and BBM outage

Today RIM suffered an email and BBM outage this morning, the day after its anemic Q2 results saw the company's stock plunge by nearly 20%.

BlackBerryHelp tweeted that "Some Canada & LatAm customers report BBM issues. Our support teams are investigating. We apologize for any inconvenience." However, tweets have been seen of related service complaints in the UK and Middle East as well.

RIM is renowned for the stability and security of its messaging systems. However, it has suffered major outages in 2009 and 2007, and other minor outages on occasion.
