BlackBerry announced in May that its famous BlackBerry Messenger app would come to iOS and Android this summer.
And while the company still hasn't given an official launch date, the company has started issuing beta invitations for BBM Android, suggesting it's still on track to release a final app before the season ends. There's also a leaked image via BGR that shows what appears to be a near-final version of the app on an Android smartphone.
The free messaging app, which currently has 60 million active users on the BlackBerry platform, sees more than 10 billion messages sent daily, according to the Waterloo-based company.
"The time is right for BBM to become an independent mobile messaging platform," CEO Thorsten Heins said in May. "We are making the BBM platform more powerful than ever."
