BC Innovation Council Supports GROW Conference Four Years Straight

Posted by Rob Lewis

Now that it's been one week since the 2013 GROW Conference wrapped up it's a good time to reflect on at how one local organization has helped the event become what it is today.

The Province of BC, through its Crown Corporation, the BC Innovation Council, has been an avid supporter of the GROW conference since it's inception 4 years ago.

This year, together, the Ministry of Trade and Investment and BCIC invested $40,000 into the GROW conference. In addition, BCIC provided 20 BC tech startups with access to the conference so they can make connections to help build their businesses with companies traveling to Vancouver from all corners of the province to take part.

BCIC's support of entrepreneurs across the province doesn't stop there. BCIC’s BC Venture Acceleration Program now has 10 partners offering the program through the BC Acceleration Network. More than 100 companies have taken part in the program to date, creating over 300 jobs since the BC Venture Acceleration Program was launched last year.

Through valuable partnerships and the support of key industry events such as the GROW conference, BCIC creates opportunities for BC technology companies to grow their businesses beyond Canada’s borders.

Thanks to Debbie Landa and her team with the support of BCIC and the other corporate sponsors for raising awareness of British Columbia as a world-class destination for international companies to work and invest.
