BCIC to sponsor Vancouver, Victoria, Okanagan and BC Startup Indexes

by Rob Lewis

Techvibes is excited to announce that starting this month BCIC (British Columbia Innovation Council) will be the new sponsor of the Vancouver and Victoria Startup Indexes.

BCIC is developing an ecosystem that supports the creation of successful technology companies in BC, promoting economic development, including jobs, making our province a great place to start and grow technology companies.

Thanks to BCIC's support and province-wide commitment, Techvibes will also be launching our inaugural Okanagan Startup Index this month as well as a combined BC Startup Index that includes startups across BC.

Startups are ranked using the 'Techvibes Traffic Rank' - currently an average of Alexa and Compete rankings, two leading web traffic data sites. Neither Alexa or Compete's numbers are perfect; however interesting trends emerge over time allowing readers to compare different websites on a level playing field as we update monthly.

To be eligible for the Startup Indexes, your company must meet the following criteria:

  • Be located within Metro Area of the city in question (or the province in the case of the BC Index)
  • Be a tech company - either hardware, software, web application/service or mobile
  • Not be a publically-traded company

If you're interested in being included in the April Startup Indexes, add your company to the Techvibes Directory and send us an email letting us know.
