BCLC wants Canadians to gamble on their smartphones

BC was North America's first government to make the dangerous leap to online gaming. It let BCLC launch PlayNow.com, the provinces "only legal gambling website."

Now BCLC wants to put that online gambling experience right into your pocket.

BCLC has started asking PlayNow customers if they'd "play," AKA gamble, on their smartphones—buying lotto tickets at the bus stop, playing poker on the train, betting on sports while you walk the dog, etc. But the results should be obvious—"duh!" the gamblers will say in unison.

While a spokesperson for BCLC said no decision has been officially made, a mobile gaming app is as inevitable as me losing money playing it. It's just a matter of when.
