Next month's BCTIA Impact event features four previous winners of the BCTIA Technology Impact Awards as they share what motivates them to keep pushing to the next level.

  • Technology visionary and pioneer, Dr. John A. MacDonald, co-founder of MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates and now Chairman and CEO of Day4 Energy, was recognized as the 2009 Technology Impact Awards Person of the Year for his contributions to the sector.
  • David Sutcliffe, former CEO of Sierra Wireless, won the coveted Bill Thompson award for exemplifying leadership in business and the community. With a technology career that spans 25 years, David has played an instrumental role in developing the wireless data industry.
  • Andrew Reid, CEO, Vision Critical will explain how Vision Critical’s Vancouver-based Community and Qualitative Team built from scratch a number of products that offer online communities and research service packages to enhance the company’s technological capabilities. The team was recognized as winner of Team of the Year.
  • Dr. Hannes Blum, President & CEO, Abebooks.com will talk about how the world’s largest online marketplace for books supports a wide variety of charitable activities and literacy initiatives, as well as offering a progressive work environment and showing environmental leadership. They were awarded the Leadership in Social Responsibility Award.

As always, BCTIA promises 75% 'open mike' time, so this is a great opportunity to ask questions of these four industry leaders. This upcoming networking reception is on May 14th and starts at 5pm followed by presentations and open mike from 6pm - 7pm. Be sure to register online.
