BlackBerry Market Share to Shrink to 0.3% by 2018, Forecast Predicts

BlackBerry’s global shipments are projected to fall nearly 50% this year to fewer than 10 million smartphones.

According to a forecast from research firm IDC, BlackBerry’s worldwide market share will shrink to just 0.8 percent by the end of this year, further dwindling to only 0.3% by 2018. The company's market share was 2% in 2013. In 2009 its market share was 50%.

Recently BlackBerry's board of directors thinned out and leading investors reduced their stake in the Canadian smartphone maker.
