Toronto's Blue Ant Media Launches Digital-only Travel+Escape Magazine for iOS

Posted by Techvibes NewsDesk

Blue Ant Media, which owns specialty TV channels such as Bite TV, Cottage Life and AUX, this week launched a digital magazine for their travel and adventure channel, Travel+Escape.

The digital magazine, available for the iPad and iPhone, is the second publication Blue Ant Media has published direct to the App Store as a digital-only offering. Last year they launched a music magazine under their brand AUX, which went on to win Music Magazine of the Year at the Digital Magazine Awards after continuously being featured in the App Store and reaching top spot on the App Store charts.

The Travel+Escape magazine has already reached the Top 100 newsstand apps in the Canadian iPhone App Chart since its launch yesterday.

The inaugural issue of this magazine showcases five of the worlds most gripping travel destinations including Norway, Chile, California, Space and Canada’s own British Columbia. The issue is dedicated to pushing the limits and takes readers on an adventure to face their fears from climbing a 3,000-foot wall in California all the way to Space travel.

Some of the interactive elements featured in the first issue include a 360 degree view of Earth from Space; a head-cam view of a BASE jumper off the cliffs ofNorway; and a high definition time lapse of Yosemite National Park.

The digital magazine balances editorial content, high definition graphics, and interactive elements. The teams have also designed the iPhone to maximize readability of the magazine on the smaller screen.

Travel+Escape is a free app to download and includes a free sample issue. Full issues are $1.99 each. A subscription costs $14.99.

No Android version yet but Blue Ant Media has indicated that this in the works.
