Toronto mobile development shop BNOTIONS announced this morning that they have completed the acquisition of Android development shop Mobicartel.

Officially launched in 2010, Mobicartel has developed over 20 Android applications and will be launching Twithaus, a Twitter client optimized for Android tablets in early 2012.

According to today's press release Mobicartel is known as one of North America's leading Android development shops. Mobicartel has demonstrated thought leadership by inspiring thousands of developers to take Android seriously since its conception. And they did this most recently at BNOTION's AndroidTO Conference in October .

The acquisition of Mobicartel is clearly a talent grab to ensure dominance in this quickly growing field. Included in the acquisition is the leadership team of Matthew Patience and Greg Carron, as well as developers Scott Mountenay and Travis Coulter.

Beyond the talent, the team brings with it a vast portfolio of clients including hip-hop legends Naughty by Nature and local Toronto startup  Guardly.

Post acquisition BNOTIONS will have a team to 40 with capabilities in iOS, Android, Blackberry, WP7 as well as all proprietary and open-source programming languages and application frameworks.
