BuddyPress goes Beta

Last Spring Vancouver-conceived BuddyPress got snapped up by WordPress parent Automattic and founder Andy Pealting started working under the WordPress umbrella. Earlier this week, the first beta release of completed BuddyPress components and themes became available for download.

BuddyPress will transform an installation of WordPress MU into a social network platform.

BuddyPress is a set of WordPress MU specific plugins, each plugin adding a distinct new feature. BuddyPress contains all the features you’d expect from WordPress but aims to let members socially interact.

I know plenty of WordPress devotees that have been waiting to take BuddyPress for a test drive and look forward to hearing who is going to roll with it first.
