BufferBox Inks GO Transit Network of Parcel Pick-Up Stations

Waterloo's BufferBox announced yesterday that it is launching the first network of parcel pick-up stations in North America with GO Transit.

BufferBox was designed with online shoppers in mind, offering an automated, self-serve parcel pick-up station as a convenient alternative to home delivery. BufferBox notifies shoppers by email as soon as a parcel is available, and provides a unique, one-time PIN code they can use to retrieve their goods from the BufferBox.

GO Transit serves over 62 million passengers every year in the Toronto and Hamilton areas, making the partnership potentially very lucrative.

Beginning with installations in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), BufferBox will enable GO Transit riders to conveniently pick up goods purchased online at a BufferBox in their local GO Station.

With this announcement, BufferBoxes will be located in five GO stations: Union Station in the East Teamway (near the GO bus terminal), Clarkson, Burlington, Oakville, and Port Credit. Another five locations will be added in the coming months. By the end of 2012, there will be 21 BufferBoxes installed in the GTHA, with that number rising to 100 by the end of 2013.

BufferBox was co-founded University of Waterloo grads Jay Shah, Mike McCauley, and Aditya Bali and they're fresh out of Y Combinator‘s Summer 2012 cohort. And they're hiring.
