Toronto’s Buytopia Launches SnapSaves, an App that Pays Consumers Cash to Shop

After ranking third on the Profit Hot 50 and being named a finalist in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year, Buytopia is following up this wave of success with their first mobile app, SnapSaves.

Created to compliment Buytopia’s daily deal offers, SnapSaves is a free couponing platform available for iOS and Android, which offers instant cash back on popular grocery products.

To take advantage of SnapSaves, shoppers are encouraged to snap a picture of their receipt after purchasing groceries at any supermarket or retailer. If the receipt includes at least one of their daily offers on it, then shoppers will receive cash back instantly. Additionally, if up to $20 worth of savings is uploaded then Buytopia will mail the shopper a cheque. Current offers include cash back on brand name items such as Coca Cola, Lysol, Red Bull, Gay Lea, and Dr. Oetker.

“We’re working with more than a dozen leading consumer packaged goods companies to directly engage our 2.3 million Canadian shoppers to drive sales volume, velocity, awareness and analytics,” said Anatoliy Melnichuk, cofounder of SnapSaves and Buytopia, in a statement to Techvibes.

To date, the startup has saved Canadians over $100 million dollars and sees this latest innovation as the next logical step to help consumers save money.

SnapSaves’ new technology is exciting for leading consumer packaged goods brands that are hoping to harness it’s platform to deliver targeted offers, engage users in store, gather consumer feedback and track analytics. The SnapSaves beta program has already generated more than 1 million viewed offers in the past few weeks.
