Calgary: Stop complaining, start attending - January events
Mack Male wrote a great post on his blog the other day. After reading an article in the Edmonton Journal about all of the next gen'ers leaving Alberta, he highlighted some people that are sticking around and making great things happen. While Mack suggests rolling up your sleeves and creating stuff, I propose something far easier for Calgary: get out and attend some events! We've already got some great things going on that are continually under attended! For example, here is what's coming up:
January 18th - Third Tuesday Meet-up: Julien Smith, the co-author of NYTimes bestseller Trust Agents will be talking about Social Capital, Trust Agents and The New Tribe
January 19th - Digital Alberta: Alexander Manu, will be talking about strategic innovation at The Grande
January 26th - DemoCamp: 6 Demos of Software and Apps from local people, with beer and friends
February 26th - TEDxYYC: an independently organized TED event with a line up of inspiring speakers
I know there's more events happening that I haven't listed as well. Get out there and check one out, or all of them as they all promise to be interesting. If you know of any other events happening in town, write it in the comments below. The more the merrier. I promise.
