Canada's First Flash Sale Site Focused on Moms, Babies, and Kids

Posted by Rob Lewis

This week, the world of private flash sale sites welcomed MarilynJean to the party.

Based out of Vancouver and created by online marketing and retail veterans, MarilynJean claims to be Canada’s first referral based, private sale, online store that offers moms with exclusive deals and preferred pricing on hand-selected pregnancy, baby, kids and family related items and services.

MarilynJean has just come out of six-month private beta phase where it amassed an impressive membership base of 20,000.

Similiar to Montreal's BeyondTheRack, members are alerted to private sale events of individual designers and boutique brands 48 to 72 hours in advance and each brand exclusive sale lasts for a total of 72 hours.

Angel-funded MarilynJean was founded by Jason Leo Carvalho (formerly of Indochino), Kelita Jean Klein (who's mother the company is named after), and Filip Stoj (a former private equity analyst) and its board includes the former President of retailer Please Mum Cathy Thorpe and Katie Dunsworth of Smart Cookie fame. MarilynJean is currently 10 employees strong, with the staff split between Vancouver and Toronto.
