Canadian iPhone Apps of the Week

Every week Techvibes receives press releases from developers, companies and associations announcing that they have launched their very own iPhone App. While some apps are completely commercial in nature, there are some great ones that just don't get the attention they deserve.

Starting today, every Friday Techvibes will highlight great new iPhone Apps that we've heard about. This week we begin with one that will make you a little safer when exploring Canada's snow-capped mountains and another that promises to connect those suffering from a terrible disease.

  • Canadian Avalanche Centre  - This new app developed by the Canadian Avalanche Centre, in partnership with MEC, allows you to view weather updates and recent avalanche incidents for your selected region. The information is cached to your device so you can access it when you're out of bounds or in areas that don't have web coverage. Smart.
  • Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation has built an easy to use App that provides the latest breast cancer and Foundation-related information and a convenient way to donate and connect with the CBCF's thriving online community. The CBCF encourages all Canadians who have been touched by breast cancer to connect through this free application.

If you have an iPhone App built in Canada or built for Canadians, fire us a note and we'll be sure to profile in an upcoming Canadian iPhone Apps of the Week post.
