A report conducted by Onavo, an iOS app that minimizes your data usage through silent background compression via the cloud, revealed recently that iPhone users in Canada use an average of about 400 MB of data per month.

Onavo says that Rogers customers use the least data, averaging 387 MB, while Bell customers average the most at 423. Telus customers sit in the middle, averaging 409 MB.

This would suggest that the most common plan is probably 500 MB, $50 one that all three carriers have… although mobile data usage is on the rise in Canada: by 2014 there will be 15 million smartphone subscribers in Canada, up from 9 million this year, and Canadian mobile data usage is forecast to hit 18 Petabytes next year and 71 by 2015.
