Canadian New Media Awards Finalist Profiles: Excellence in Culture/Lifestyle Arts

The Canadian New Media Awards take place November 18, 2008, as part of the nextMEDIA conference. In the lead up to this event, I'm going to profile the categories and finalists, one per day. Today's category is Excellence in Culture/Lifestyle Arts.

1973: Sorry, Out of Gas is a website accompanying an exhibition that was at the Canadian Centre of Architecture. The exhibit studying architectural innovation that came out of the 1973 oil crisis, and how it relates to our current peak oil problems. The site was done by Bluesponge Interactive Creative Agency of Montreal.

EMDialog is an interactive installation at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary as part of the "Emily Carr: New Perspectives on a Canadian Icon" exhibit. Making use of a SMART Technologies interactive tabletop display, visitors can explore commentary and imagery about Emily Carr. It was created by the University of Calgary's Department of Computer Science.

The National Ballet of Canada's website provides a comprehensive information about the company, a multimedia look behind the scenes, and ticket purchasing. The site was done by Momentum of Toronto.
