Canadian Newspaper Rep ditches Online

In the face of a slowing economy, Canadian Primedia - the largest independent daily newspaper rep house in Canada - has axed its online division sales team. Primedia represents over 42 daily and weekly newspapers and approximately 27 consumer magazines. Their Online Division was launched in early 2008 and represents for over 40 websites that reaches 3.7 million unique visitors each month.

Hasn't Primedia management read all the reports that online advertising will be resilient to an economic downturn?

there has to be other reasons than a slowing economy, because on the surface that move is completely assinine.
