Canadian Pair Launch iPhone Cocktail App

Some iPhone applications are made for productivity, and best follow the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines, which Apple outlines in a 114 page PDF. Other iPhone applications are "party tricks" of sorts, so why not give them a retro-60s-lounge interface? Such is what Rob Maran and Deidra Jones of Toronto have done with the app Pocket Cocktails.

The app features hundreds of drink recipes, each with large colour photos. One can search by drink or ingredient, and like Urbanspoon's app, shaking the phone returns a random recipe. It's not the only drink recipe app for the iPhone, but it is one of the most polished, as reflected in it's current 4.5 star rating on the App Store. Pocket Cocktails is available through iTunes for $4.99.

I like the iShot Machine app because it's more than just another recipe app with a million drinks. This is entertainment with a useful recipe database. Great for an icebreaker at a bar. http://www.iShotMachine.com
