Canadian retailers this month are launching a floodgate of promotions, offers, savings, sales, deals and coupons to motivate Canadian consumers to buy.
According to the Canadian Deals & Coupons Association, these retailers are using deals and coupons more than ever before.
Over 70% of Canadian consumers buy on sale and over 60% use deals or coupons, according to the association. Consequently more deal and coupon providers are launching across Canada—even large US based coupon providers such as Retailmenot and Ebates have launched in Canada recently.
"The overall deals and coupons sector in Canada is a heck of a lot larger than most people realize; the impact on retail sales in this country is quite large," says Albert Bitton, president of the Canadian Deals & Coupons Association.
As ecommerce and mobile commerce continues to grow in Canada, as US-based stores enter the Canadian market, Bitton says it is becoming more challenging for everyone to compete for the attention of Canadian consumers.
