CBC's Fortune Hunters visits TeamPages

Posted by Rob Lewis

Last September, the crew from CBC's Fortune Hunters was in Vancouver filming our next door neighbour TeamPages and we just heard that their episode is going to air on February 14th.

Fortune Hunters is an exciting new business program focused on “trends” – the powerful shifts in human behaviour and in economic activity that define today’s world. Fortune Hunters explores these trends through the lens of moneymaking – discovering how people eager for self-employment are exploiting new opportunities.

Fortune Hunters was created by Dianne Buckner, long-time host of Venture and current host of Dragons’ Den, along with award-winning Venture show producer and VJ James Dunne. The mandate of the program is to inform and inspire.

Each and every week we meet the people who are hunting their fortune by creating companies and trying to cash in on popular trends. We also meet 2 business experts who help us learn about the trend, and assess the odds of success for our Fortune Hunters.

Fortune Hunters' February 14th episode labeled "Facebook Factor" will examine the social networking trend in Canada. Viewers will meet TeamPages CEO Mike Tan and his team as they try to take TeamPages to the next level and web experts Leila Boujnane of Idee Inc. and Evan Carmichael will weigh in on their chances of success. Fittingly, this episode will wrap up with the story behind the huge success of Lavalife and how co-founder Bruce Croxon attracted people looking for love.

The episode airs on CBC Newsworld on Saturday, February 14th at 3:30 pm and 8:30 pm PST; and on Sunday, February 15th at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm PT. It will also be available online starting tomorrow.
