CineCoup’s Debut Feature Film WolfCop to Premiere in Cineplex Theatres in June

by Techvibes NewsDesk

On June 6 the CineCoup Film Acceleratorwill present the theatrical premiere of its debut feature film, a horror-comedy titled WolfCop.

The film was born from CineCoup's studio model that set out to disrupt the way independent films by new filmmakers are marketed, produced and distributed.

Partnering with Cineplex Entertainment, CineCoup offered up to $1 million in financing and a guaranteed theatrical release for the top project; out of 90 teams, the Regina-based filmmakers behind WolfCop were greenlit for production last June at at the Banff World Media Festival.

WolfCop follows Lou Garou (Leo Fafard), an alcoholic cop who tends to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings. However, lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar, Lou's senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he's a rage-fueled werewolf. WolfCop is one cop's quest to become a better transformation at a time.

“The 15-week accelerator process was designed to be challenging and force participating teams to develop not only their creativity, but also their business and promotional skills, all the while building and connecting with their fans—attributes we believe are essential to be successful in the changing landscape of feature films," says J. Joly, CineCoup founder and CEO.

Wolfcop was written and directed by Lowell Dean and produced by Bernie Hernando and Hugh Patterson.

“It was an incredible experience to bring my vision of WolfCop to life,” said Dean. “Not only did we get to make a feature film but we also got to fulfill our childhood dream of creating action figures, graphic novels and soundtrack albums to go along with it."
