CIRA's Impact Awards honour Canadian websites
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is honouring Canadian websites that make a difference. The .CA Impact Awards are a series of awards that honour Canadian websites using the .ca TLD that make a difference in one of four fields: e-learning, small business, not-for-profit and web technology.
The innovative qualities of a website, along with the scope of its impact and overall quality will be taken into account when judging websites for the Impact Awards. What’s more important than recognizing the websites is recognizing the people behind those websites — the students, youth, entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, designers and developers who make these great websites a reality.
“The awards program will help us celebrate excellence and share best practices with .ca domain name holders from coast to coast,” said CIRA president and CEO Byron Holland in a press release. “We understand the Internet is more than technology — it is a significant force, a catalyst, and a powerful agent of social change. That’s why the .CA Impact Awards celebrates the impact of .ca websites and applications.”
A panel of judges will select the four winners (one from each category), who will not only receive more notability and public awareness for their involvement, but also a cheque for $5,000 from the CIRA. Any person who has reached the age of majority in their province and has a valid .ca domain name registered by the CIRA may enter this contest. The deadline to enter is March 25th, 2011.
