Announced on May 26th at the annual CVCA (Canada's Venture Capital and Private Equity Association) Conference in Ottawa, the Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) launched its third annual campaign to seek out Canada's Hottest Innovative Companies. Each year, the CIX competition searches for Canada's most innovative technology-based businesses in information and communications technologies, cleantech, and digital media. CIX is a showcase for great Canadian innovation while catalyzing strategic relationships and transactions across this dynamic sector. The 2010 edition of the event will take place on December 7th at MaRS Centre in downtown Toronto.

CIX invites all technology-based businesses across Canada to submit their profiles in an open competition. Select finalists, dubbed “Canada’s Hottest Innovative Companies," will make a live presentation at CIX in front of industry leaders, corporations, entrepreneurs, and investors. From these finalists, Canada's Innovation Leader will be selected. In 2009, this distinction was awarded to Markham, Ontario’s CognoVision, a provider of real-time audience measurement and retail intelligence solutions for retailers & the out-of-home advertising industry.

"The relentless advance of innovative technologies continues to accelerate," says Rick Nathan, Managing Director of Kensington Capital Partners and Co-Chair of the Canadian Innovation Exchange, "and disruptive changes bring opportunities for entrepreneurs, corporations and investors." Rick, who also serves as the current Chairman of CVCA, added, "The exchange of ideas and opportunities across the full range of industry participants drives the entrepreneurial focus of CIX. Large corporations and investors, as well as their peer CEO's, create a unique competitve environment for the selection of Canada's Technology Innovation Leader. "

The competition is free to enter and is open to all Canadian companies who consider themselves, their product, technology or service to be innovative in the fields of Information Communication Technology, Cleantech, or Digital Media.
