As a follow-up to PEER 1's March 2009 Canada Startup Index on Friday, comScore has provided us with their take on the top contenders based on January 2009 data.

In the above chart, the Online % Reach is the percentage of Canadians online that each entity reaches. As an example, Metrolyrics reached 9.5% of all Canadians during January.

Seasonally influenced sites like RedFlagDeals.com for holiday shopping and Clubzone.com for New Years Eve events saw their traffic decline in January. Transcontinental's Weblocal.ca saw the greatest gain month-over-month jumping from 4.2 in December to 6.6 in January, stealing the #2 spot from Plentyoffish.

Thanks again to comScore for sharing this valuable data with Techvibes.
