Controversial Service Launches in Canada, Lets You See Blocked Numbers
TelTech Systems has been operating TrapCall in America for three years. Now the controversial service is available in Canada for Rogers, Fido, Telus, and Bell customers.
TrapCall is a mobile app with a monthly subscription fee that enables users to view blocked numbers. How? Well, the company says it does so "magically." But actually, TrapCall subscribes you to your own toll-free number, which boasts the benefit of extra information on calls received. The caller has no idea, but their call goes to a TrapCall number which unmasks them before forwarding the call to your smartphone. It's a loophole that TelTech has successfully exploited.
The most basic service costs just $4.95 but can go up to $24.95 for more features, such as blacklisting callers, recording calls, and sending voicemails as texts. See TrapCall in action in the video below.
