Daily Deal Sites Come Under Fire for Fake Merchandise

Yesterday daily deal industry pundit Albert S. Bitton told the story of an unfortunate situation where a famous brand was promoted on two Canadian daily deal sites only to have their customers find out that they were buying counterfeit product.

Ethical Deal and Dealticker both ran promotions for knock-off TOMs shoes.

Ultimately the online merchant providing the product for the daily deal site - e-accessories.ca in this case - are to blame but in scenarios like this everyone should take some responsibility. Especially since anyone with an Internet connection should be able to spot fake TOMS shoes.
