Danny Robinson no longer CEO of BCIC
BCIC Chair Greg Aasen posted this message on the BCIC website last night.
On behalf of the board, I would like to announce the appointment of Mark Payne as the Acting CEO for BCIC starting today. Mark has been with BCIC for the past year in his role as Entrepreneur-in-Residence while also serving on BCIC's executive team. Danny Robinson will be leaving his role as CEO of BCIC and stepping into a new one as Advisor to the Board. We thank Danny for his service and efforts and look forward to his contributions in his new role.
BCIC continues to play a vital role in strengthening our technology ecosystem by working with industry, academia and government to create programs that help tech entrepreneurs be successful.
A CEO recruitment process will begin soon.
This announcement will likely surprise many in the BC Tech community as Robinson's tenure as CEO of BCIC was only 6 months.
Robinson stepped down as Managing Director of Bootup Labs to take over for outgoing CEO Dean Rockwell in November 2010. At the time of his hire BCIC felt that Robinson was the perfect fit to take BCIC into the future.
Techvibes named Robinson to our Digital Media People to Watch in BC lists in 2008 for Strutta and in 2010 for Bootup Labs. We also asked him 5 Questions in January after his appointment at BCIC.
Robinson is participating in a panel at Meshwest in Calgary this morning tltled Canada’s Startup Landscape: Alive and Well?. Stay tuned for a comment from Robinson.
Update: Robinson has posted a short note on his personal blog.
