Deloitte unveils Fast 50 list, as well as Companies-to-Watch, Leadership, and Green 15 award winners
Deloitte has released its 2011 Fast 50 list, which recognizes Canada's high-growth technology companies.
Based on 5-year revenue growth (expressed as a percentage), Saint-Laurent's Accedian Networks is Canada's top-ranked tech company, clocking in revenue growth at more than 50,000%—phew. Not too far behind is Cambridge's RTI Cryogenics and Vancouver's Avigilon at 46,000% and 39,000% respectively. Rounding out the top five are NexJ Systems from Toronto (29,000%) and Real Matters from Markham (28,000%). Who says you can't row during recessions and in stagnant economics?
Waterloo giant Research In Motion made the list. With 634% revenue growth over the past five years, RIM ranked 29th—very respectable for a company of its size.
Deloitte also revealed its Companies-to-Watch awards. The company suggests you keep your eyes on 10 startups including Beyond The Rack (Saint-Laurent), Enflick (Waterloo), Kobo (Toronto), and more. Winners of Deloitte's Leadership award include Accedian Networks (the fast 50 #1) and Solace Systems from Kanata, Ontario. Finally, 15 companies won the Green award for eco-friendliness. Among the winners are Toronto's Ecobee, Vancouver's Ostara, and Burnaby's Tantalus.
