DemoCampVancouver a Success

Another successful DemoCampVancouver took place last night at Workspace. The event was true to form and encouraged "a cross-pollination of industries and individuals in hopes that people engaged in unrelated endeavors might provide an enlightening perspective on the presenters concept". Luckily Rebecca Bollwitt was live-blogging the event so there was no need for me to take any notes - Thanks Miss 604!

Nine prospective pitchers threw their names in the hat and a quick vote narrowed the field down to four. Up first was Joe Solomon of RaytTheNet. Rayt allows you to leave, view, and rate comments on any website on the Internet. By using a sidebar in your browser you can leave a comment about a website for anyone else that visits that site and also uses that plugin.

The second presenter was Kyle Vucko of Indochino. Indochino is bringing made-to-measure suits to the masses via the Web and Kyle fielded a bunch of questions ranging from sweatshop concerns to scalability of the business model. Based on the number of people handing him cards after his pitch, look for some sharp-dressed Campers next event.

Third up was Michael Fergusson of Kinzin and their new Facebook app "Are you Normal?" It’s good, clean fun that’s entertaining and all about connecting with those people online you love (and love to poke fun at) the most: your close friends and family. Look for this application outside of Facebook soon as well.

Last up was Igor Faletski of Handi Mobility presenting LiveVote.ca- a free SMS/text message voting system. Think American Idol style voting but for free. LiveVote was a hit with the crowd thanks to the live demo. Campers voted with their mobile devices on a number of topics and saw the instant results on the wall. Looks like we may be using LiveVote next DemoCamp to determine the final line-up of presenters.
