Every July the city hosts North America's second largest Fringe Festival (only Edmonton's is bigger). Winnipeg has been named the Slurpee capital of the world eight times in a row, despite also being named the coldest city in the world with a population of over 600,000. And finally, Winnipeg is home to Canada's newest DemoCamp!

That's right, on May 29th the first ever DemoCamp in Winnipeg will be held at the King's Head Pub. Here are the details:

WHO: Anyone in and around Winnipeg!
WHAT: DemoCampWinnipeg1
WHEN: Thursday, May 29th at 6:30 PM
WHERE: King's Head Pub, 2nd floor (map)
WHY: To see what Winnipeg's entrepreneurs are up to

Currently on the list to present is John Luxford of SIMIAN Systems, Terry Davidson of Global Office, and Alec Holowka of Bit Blot. At the 2007 Independent Games Festival, Bit Blot won the Seamus McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game.

Over a dozen people have signed up already on the Upcoming page for the event. They've also got a Google Group going. If you live in or near Winnipeg, check it out!
