DeveloperAuction has raised $2.7 million in seed funding.
The Silicon Valley startup, which was cofounded by Canadian entrepreneur Matt Mickiewicz of 99designs fame, aims to address the challenge companies face when hiring engineering talent. The financing round was led by New Enterprise Associates and Shasta Ventures and included participation from SoftTech VC, Google Ventures, and Crosslink Capital.
"Developer Auction was launched in order to disrupt the recruiting industry and provide a better and more efficient way for talented developers to get exposed to exciting job opportunities at funded tech companies," the company explains.
"We know that the smartest people are already employed, and that they receive numerous emails every month from recruiters and prospective employers that often go ignored due to the enormous amount of time that it would take to interview and negotiate with each company," the startup added. "We thought: 'there has to be a better way.'
According to Forbes, DeveloperAuction is profitable and has already seen $225 million in job offers made through its platform. The startup's other cofounders are Douglas Feirstein, who founded LiveOps, and serial entrepreneur Allan Grant.
