Ebay Looking for 2013's Entrepreneur of the Year

For the ninth year in a row, eBay Canada has kicked off its search for the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, a program designed to highlight successful and innovative e-commerce across the country.

For 2013, eBay has introduced the "Home-preneur" category, for sellers who use home resources and family members, and the "Young-preneur" category, for sellers under the age of 29, is back again this year.

“More and more Canadians are buying goods online and supporting a new wave of Canadian business,” says Andrea Stairs, country director for eBay Canada. “Ebay is looking for examples of great Canadian entrepreneurial innovation and creativity, and by showcasing this year’s winners, we hope to inspire more Canadians to start selling online.”

Along with bragging rights, the Entrepreneur of the Year will win $3,000 and the Young-preneur of the Year and Home-preneur of the Year will each receive $2,000.  All three winners will also enjoy promotion of their eBay business to more than two-million online buyers, according to the online auction site.

Entries must be received by midnight EST on August 12. Winners will be announced during Canadian Small Business Month in October.

Last year, a Canadian sold an item approximately every two seconds on eBay Canada. In Canada, eBay was visited by more than 7.9 million Canadians in May 2013.
