Edmonton's Cleankeys raises $5 million

Edmonton-based Cleankeys Inc. today announced the successful closing of its Series-A financing round of $5 Million dollars. The company will use the money to introduce its award-winning Cleankeys keyboard, a solid-surface keyboard that is easy to clean, to healthcare markets worldwide.

The company's solutions address the fourth leading cause of death in North America: healthcare-acquired infections (HAI). Studies have shown keyboards to be one of the most germ-infested surfaces—filthier even than toilet seats. In hospitals, where more than 100,000 North Americans die from HAI every year, Cleankeys will very likely help to save lives.

The technology was recently demonstrated to the visiting British Royal couple, Prince William and Princess Catherine, at the University of Calgary's Ward of 21st Century, where a study is being conducted into the effects of keyboard contamination in hospitals.

"We are grateful and excited by the enthusiasm shown by all our investors; it's a huge validation of our technology and our team," Randy Marsden, CEO of Cleankeys Inc., says. "Now we can't wait to execute our plan to expand our sales and marketing efforts into broader healthcare markets".

Cleankeys has been a designer and manufacturer of computer input solutions for over 20 years. The company has won numerous recognitions, including Best New Product from the American Dental Association.
