Edward Snowden Shocks Crowd with Surprise Appearance at TED

TED attendees were treated to a special surprise on day two: Chris Anderson interviewed Edward Snowden.

From a remote location in Russia, Snowden appeared on the screen of a wheeled machine that scooted around the Vancouver Convention Centre, letting attendees take photos with him—or his avatar, at least.

During the 40-minute chat with Anderson—called “Here’s How We Take Back the Internet“—Snowden discussed rights, privacy, security. The talk is viewable online and within 24 hours was watched more than 300,000 times.
