Engine Digital partners named Ones to Watch
Vancouver’s Stephen Beck and Richard Gallagher were recently named “Ones to Watch” by Marketing Magazine for their work with Engine Digital, a Creative Digital Agency. Beck and Gallagher share both Partner and Creative Director titles at Engine Digital. Here’s a little of what Marketing Mag had to say about the pair:
When Richard Gallagher and Stephen Beck opened Engine Digital in 2002, they circulated a self-promotional video via a website they created, BloodyFingerMail.com. Way before viral marketing became an accepted part of marketing campaigns or social media was a household word, the site caused a minor sensation and allowed people to go online, write and send a message using a bleeding finger.
“It was intended to launch for Halloween as kind of a joke and it was something that we initially seeded out to our media contacts. Within a week it got out of control and spread around the Internet really fast and got us a lot of exposure and a lot of attention,” says Beck. The site is still up and has close to two million hits.
By the time Engine Digital walked off with a truckload of hardware at last year’s Lotus Awards, the shop had already gained the attention of most of the city’s ad agencies and work for clients that include Nintendo, Paramount Pictures and Telus.
Under their leadership, Engine Digital’s growth has been impressive. The company employs 15+ staff and has been named among B.C.’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies by Business in Vancouver for the past two years consecutively. Companies such as Intrawest, HSBC, Westin, and BC Hydro have turned to Engine Digital to provide ways to connect with consumers and elevate their brands online.
The “Ones to Watch” list is released on an annual basis by Marketing Magazine to acknowledge the accomplishments and future potential of marketing, advertising and media professionals under 30. The list is compiled by the Marketing Magazine editorial team based upon consideration of a candidate’s professional contributions, innovations, financial clout and industry leadership.
