Eseri is an Ottawa-based IT firm offering a fully hosted open source desktop and collaboration suite.

The company provides remote-access (or "cloud-based" to use the buzz word) to a Linux desktop with most the open source software needed to get work done already installed.

The only thing that needs to be installed on the local computer is the thin-client needed to access Eseri's computers, hosted in a data centre.

The remote desktop is usable on lower-speced computers and netbooks as well as providing access to 20GB of cloud storage.

Installed applications include OpenOffice.org, Firefox and MediaWiki, as well as providing apps for accounting, CRM, web development and graphics.

The setup costs $24.95 per month for each desktop and a free trial is available.
