This week Facebook announced Developer World HACK 2012, a series of events they're hosting around the world throughout August and September. Similar to the Mobile HACK Roadshow they hosted back in March, the World series is designing to bring the Facebook Developer story to "some of the world's most vibrant and fast-growing developing communities."
Among them is Berlin, Barclona, and Warsaw. There is only one Canadian city on the list. That is Vancouver. The Facebook Developer World HACK 2012 will visit the west coast digital mecca on Thursday, September 20.
Facebook says that the events are open to coders "of all kinds, whether you've developed with Facebook before, have an existing app that you'd like to distribute on Facebook, or simply have a great idea for a social app that you hope to bring to life."
According to the social network, each day of the event begins with a series of technical sessions designed to get hackers working with Facebook as quick as possible: "We'll discuss Open Graph, iOS, Android, mobile web, and how to build successful social games. And we know you're there to code. We'll quickly dive into demos and samples to give you everything you need to get started on the HACK itself: an eight hour competition where you get to demonstrate your newfound skills, with hands-on help from Facebook engineers."
Facebook says that the event wraps up with team demos and awards for the best apps and projects worked on throughout the day. This year, to recognize talented developer communities around the globe, Facebook says that the best team on each continent will also win a trip to San Francisco to visit their campus and meet the Facebook team.
These events always sell out quickly, the company affirms. A "nominal fee" ($25) is charged for attendance.
